About Locaid

Locaid is the largest Location-as-a-Service (LaaS) company that offers the largest reach in North America, covering smartphones, feature phones and any device connected to a carrier’s wireless network. Locaid allows mobile developers to locate over 350 million wireless devices for enterprise authentication, fraud management, and hyper-local marketing, all through a single, privacy-protected cloud-based gateway.

Product Suite 

Locaid customers obtain location data from Locaid in a variety of ways depending on their needs:

  • Locaid Xchange Gateway API (LXG) – A flexible API that allows developers to locate subscribers on Tier 1 mobile networks.
  • Instant Locate – A web-based location portal that allows customers to enter the phone number of any opt-in mobile device and locate the subscriber in an instant.
  • Locaid Geofence – Allows developers to create alerts that are triggered when a registered device enters or leaves a defined area.

In addition to providing industry-leading network based location data with ease, Locaid works closely with each client to ensure that carrier approval and privacy protections are in place.

 

Technology 

Locaid aggregates location data from carrier partners through its’ long established agreement and technical and operations integration. Through this network, Locaid obtains Cell ID and aGPS to relay location data to customers via its Locaid Xchange Gateway (LXG) and Instant Locate products. Cell ID and aGPS are both network-based solutions that offer several noteworthy advantages over traditional GPS location data, including the ability to locate feature phones as well as smart devices, with little or no impact on battery life, and no requirement for a downloadable application.
