Verify a Person’s Location
Location verification can be used for online gambling. Gambling is legal in Nevada, but it is difficult to determine if an online gambler is physically located in Nevada when he or she places a bet. Using the cell phone’s location to verify a person’s location can show whether a bet is legal.
Locaid can identify the location of a subscriber’s device on all major carrier mobile networks. It doesn’t matter if the device is indoors or outdoors, GPS-enabled or not, a smart phone running apps or a feature phone that isn’t. We can find it.
How does it work?
- The customer opts-in to the program to allow the gambling institution to use their location as part of the fraud determination algorithm. That’s all they have to do.
- When the customer places a bet, the gambling institution checks to see if their cell phone is in Nevada.
- If so, it’s likely to be a legal transaction.
- If the transaction is deemed suspect, then the institution can ask for more information or deny the transaction.
